Advanced Photonix, Inc. (API) has introduced a new silicon detector. The SD138-11-31-211 features a unique design with two silicon PIN photodiodes vertically integrated into a hermetic TO-5 housing.
The upper photodiode, 300 nm…1100 nm, absorbs a portion of the incident light, the rest of which reaches the lower photodiode, 950 nm…1100 nm. The current ratio of the two photodiodes can be used to monitor the colour temperature of an object.
Applications include remote colour temperature sensing and dual wavelength power meters.
