The standard ranges of position sensing detectors (PSDs) available from LASER COMPONENTS are designed to detect light from 400 - 1100 nm and output the position of the light incident on the device. We have found these devices suit the needs of our customers, however, sometimes there is a requirement for a customised solution in order to achieve the best performance.
We can modify any standard PSD or provide a completely custom version to meet your requirements. The detector geometry, which is the base of the other parameters, can be of any shape and size within the Ø 3” wafer used to produce the PSD. Once a size is specified we can customise the detector resolution, rise time, detector resistance, device noise, and device capacitance. Each of these parameters is co-related and can be tuned to your specification.
The spectral response of the PSD can be optimised for any desired wavelength between 200 nm - 1100 nm with additional options such as response enhancement at UV, near-IR, and specific wavelengths such at Nd:YAG at 1064 nm, as well as charged particle and X-rays.
A final touch to the customised PSD is a selection of options including packaging, selection of cover glass, filters, AR-coatings, number of pins, and even their spacing.
