High NA for Tight Bends
Single-mode fibers for visible and infrared light have a higher numerical aperture than standard telecom fibers. This guarantees low attenuation values even in tight bends.
In the case of optical fibers with a reduced cladding diameter, the static fatigue that occurs when winding up the fiber is also reduced. They can be packed tighter and are therefore preferred for coil sensors and small next-generation telecommunications devices.
Typical Applications:
- Geophones
- Fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs)
- Sensors
