Advanced Photonix, Inc. introduces its new silicon detector. The SD138-11-38-211 features a unique design: two silicon PIN photodiodes are vertically integrated into a hermetic TO-5 housing. The upper photodiode, 300 nm…1100 nm, absorbs a portion of the incident light, the rest of which reaches the lower photodiode, 950 nm…1100 nm. The ratio of the two photocurrents can, for example, be used to monitor the color temperature of an object.
