In compact security scanners, long-lasting UV LEDs are generally used: Current UVA LEDs have a power level of up to 2 watts, and the short-wave UVC LEDs have a power level of 70 mW at 278 nm.
The UV LED’s SMD housing is tiny; the smallest components have an edge length of just 3.4 mm. There are even versions available with an integrated collimation lens, which collimates the emitted beam.
